Once an ISO 19650 document has been created, you may be required to rename the document. Following the process below will allow you to change the properties that are used to generate the document number, and then once changed to the required values, save the changes and the document number will be re-generated using the new values. Please note that the sequence number will also be re-generated based on the rules for the document class to ensure there is no duplication of the document number.

Select the required document(s) that you wish to rename, then scroll to the bottom of the metadata pane until you see the ‘Add property’ selection, in this selection add the ‘Rename Document’ property:

Once this property has been added, there are two options that can be selected for the property, first of all select the ’01 - Edit Document Number Properties’ option:

Once you have selected this value, another property will now be shown called ‘Update Link to Issued Documents’:

If this option is enabled, any previously issued versions of the selected document will be linked to the newly renamed document. This means that when you next issue this document, it will update the previously issued document rather than creating a new one. This can be important if you wish to keep the C01, C02 etc. revision order. If the document has never been issued, do not enable this option.

With the ’01 - Edit Document Number Properties’ option selected, you will also now find that the previously read-only properties used for the document number are now editable. Edit the these properties as required:

Once you have set the required values, update the ‘Rename Document’ property to the second option ’02 - Generate New Document Number’ and click ‘Save’ to save the changes:

When the changes are saved, an event handler will now process the document(s) essentially running the name document process again using the new values. The ‘Rename Document’ property is automatically removed, and the document is renamed (in this example the Discipline was changed from Architect to Mechanical Engineer):
