The Rank column can be useful when you know the keywords but little else, as it will sort the messages based on relevance. 

Relevance is based on a number of factors including the frequency of the search terms in the messages, how recent they are and the overall length of the messages. So a short email that mentions the keywords a lot and was sent recently will be at the top.
