It’s helpful to link metadata from PentagonDocs Assistant to fields used in a document template so that the data is automatically entered in the document. The following example shows how a template letter to Building Surveyors might auto-populate.


To add M-Files properties such as the recipient’s address to the Word template, use the Insert Property button on the M-Files ribbon menu:



This will present metadata properties from PentagonDocs Assistant. Simply select the required property and a field is created within the document which links to the PentagonDocs Assistant metadata:

In the example above, we have created fields linked to the PentagonDocs Assistant metadata for the Addressee contact (company and address details), and the project name/code metadata. When a new document is created using this template, it will synchronise the metadata from PentagonDocs Assistant to the Word document, automatically filling in the required information:
