Where emails contain MIME encoded images (images are encoded as a string of characters), these are preserved and displayed correctly.

To save disk space and improve performance, embedded images are not retained in the search index and won't display in the preview. These are replaced with the the "Image removed from preview" item so that you can see where images exist in the message but can't be displayed in the preview.

This is purely a performance improvement of the viewer. The message will not have been modified and all the images will be shown as expected when you open them in Outlook.
