Concept SFD vs. MFD
You will have encountered situations where a single document can be represented in a number of ways, for example a drawing sheet from Revit may need to be output as a PDF, DWF and DWG renditions for different reasons, yet they are all representations of the same sheet. Rather than treat them as separate entities, each with their own data, in PentagonDocs Assistant you can have a single Multi-file Document (MFD) which both keeps all the renditions together and has one set of data about them. You only then need to look for the one object and can be sure that the renditions are all of the same document. Conversely a Single-file Document (SFD) is only a single file object.
Multi-File Document - MFD
A multi-file document such as an ISO 19650 DR – 2D Drawing, displays as and contains the native file and any renditions (PDF) below it as shown here. NOTE: you need to expand the MFD to see the native file and renditions and select one to preview the document. The MFD and the files within all share the same metadata.
Single-File Document - SFD
A single-file document is a type such as an ISO 19650 DP – Digital Photo which is a single image. SFD files can be previewed when selected. TIP: if you have taken photos using your phone, the ‘Image’ tab will display: the image, data about the camera, data about the image, and a map showing where you were at the time.
